Swarm is a diptych. I was interested in the representations of the 'autonomous' and androgynous child in the Soviet mythology of childhood. The imagery combines pioneer photography with imagery from soviet animation The Mystery of the Third Planet (1981) and Adventures of Mowgli (1973). Both works depict a single and independent child in the middle of a romantic forest. The relationship between figure and landscape is ambivalent. It is not known whether a child rules a swarm or whether forest bees threats a child. Repetition emphasizes the motives of "bewitched" or enchanted magical space.
В этом небольшом диптихе художницу интересовали репрезентации "автономного" и андрогинного ребенка в советской мифологии детства. Рои объединяет фото из пионерского лагеря с образами из мультфильма "Тайна третьей планеты" (1981) и "Приключения Маугли" (1973). Обе работы изображают одиного и самостоятельного ребенка посреди романтического леса. Соотношение между фигурой и ландшафтом амбивалентно. Неизвестно, может ли ребенок управлять лесом или этот лес управляет ребенком и таит угрозу. Повторение подчеркивает мотив "заворожености" и "заколдованности".
