The starting point of this project is an exhibition catalogue of drawings by R. B. Kitaj shown in 1980 in London. I screen-print each page, transforming it into a unique graphic work. Transparent offset ink leaves only a subtle trace, yet alters the status of the reproduction.
My intervention reveals the publication as a material apparatus. The catalogue ceases to function as a neutral carrier of images and reveals itself as a physical object through which artistic value, authorship and historical narratives are continuously reproduced and circulated.
